What is Yoga and why should I practice?

Meditation in motion you will learn to breathe correctly with Pranayama (The breath of Life) to enhance all round performance.

If I have a back problem will I be able to attend?

Yoga will be fine attending sessions with chronic back pain as poses will promote healing and ease pain. You will be guided correctly with essential teaching points. Mataip Yoga entails Mindful slow controlled movements so you are safe at all times. You are guided by your coach and your body. Mataip Yoga poses have been selected and modified so YOU Heal and Strengthen quickly. Pilates is a series of strengthening, toning and alignment techniques which will assist you with posture and core strength. Suitable for all levels all levels. It would be recommended that you that you attend at least five consecutive sessions to recalibrate and speed up healing and strength.

Am I too old?

All ages attend sessions and strength, stamina and flexibility can be achieved at any age. In order to Live Longer and keep your body in balance yoga is imperative.

I do Sports will it help?

Whatever your sport you will need a way of rehabilitating & balancing muscles after participating. Your inner strength, flexibility and focus will improve with Mataip Yoga enhancing your game whatever the sport.

What do I wear?

Comfortable cotton, lycra based clothing would be best to allow natural movement.

Do I need a mat?

Mats are provided but for hygiene and home practice it would be advisable to buy your own.

Exercise in pregnancy

The more active and fit you are during pregnancy, the easier it will be for you to adapt to your changing shape and weight gain. It will also help you to cope with labour and get back into shape after the birth.   Keep up your normal daily physical activity or exercise (sport, running, yoga, dancing, or even walking to the shops and back) for as long as you feel comfortable. Exercise is not dangerous for your baby – there is some evidence that active women are less likely to experience problems in later pregnancy and labour.
